Dr. Bussing is the chair of the department of Psychiatry, under which this program falls. She treats the entire spectrum of childhood and adolescent disorders, specializing in comprehensive approaches that combine pharmacotherapy, parent training, clinical group therapies and school interventions. Her honors include several grants from the National Institute of Mental Health, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s Elaine Schlosser Lewis Award for published research on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. She is the Director of the Florida Outreach Project for Children and Young Adults Who Are Deaf-Blind. Dr. Bussing has published 90 peer-reviewed journal articles and five book chapters.

Dr. Greene is the Chief of Addiction Psychiatry. He is also the Medical Director and an attending physician in the drug and alcohol detoxification unit at UF Health Shands Psychiatric Hospital. He is a contributing faculty member to the Addiction and Recovery Certificate.

Dr. Hollifield is an attending physician at UF Health Shands Psychiatric Hospital. He specializes in psychiatry, addiction medicine and pain medicine. He serves as Director of the Addiction and Pain Management Consultation Service.
Jason Hunt, M.D.

Dr. Hunt practices at the UF Health Florida Recovery Center, where his responsibilities include evaluating impaired safety-sensitive professionals and caring for patients in the alcohol and drug detoxification unit at UF Health Shands Psychiatric Hospital. His interests and expertise are in ob/gyn, specifically opioid use disorders in pregnancy, substance use disorders, the evaluation and management of dual-diagnosis substance use disorders and substance-related impairment. Before becoming an addiction medicine physician, Dr. Hunt worked as an advanced drug and alcohol counselor in Alabama and Tampa.

Dr. Lewis has conducted research on medication development for alcohol use disorders and integrated that basic science experience in psychopharmacology and behavioral neuroscience with clinical training in neuropsychological and electroencephalographic methods. His postdoctoral research included examination of neurobehavioral concomitants of acute alcohol in aging adults, development of novel interventions for alcohol use disorder, and investigation of alcohol-associated deficits in affective processing. He is involved in several ongoing research projects, including the direction of a 2018 Career Development Award (K01) from the National Institute of Alcohol & Alcoholism (NIAAA).

Dr. Phalin is a neuropsychologist at the UF Health Florida Recovery Center, where he specializes in treating patients who have substance use disorders. His main responsibilities include performing neurocognitive and general psychological evaluations of patients who are either in treatment at our residential facility or who have been referred for assessment of substance use related issues.

Dr. Reid is the Program Director for Online Graduate and Certificate Programs in the UF College of Medicine Department of Psychiatry, with oversight of the Addiction and Recovery certificate. She is the recipient of a 2015 Exemplary Teacher Award from the UF College of Medicine and is 2018 Entrepreneur Faculty Fellow of the UF Warrington College of Business. She serves as co-chair of the Education Committee of the National Association of Science Writers.

Dr. Setlow conducts basic science research on the interactions between drugs of abuse and decision-making, with the ultimate goal of identifying targets for new therapies. His group investigates the long-term effects of chronic drug exposure on cognitive outcomes, with a particular focus on different types of decision-making processes (for example, risky and impulsive decision-making) and the neural mechanisms underlying drug-induced alterations in such processes. He also studies how individual differences in risky and impulsive decision-making predict propensity for future drug use.

Dr. Smolen specializes in the evaluation and treatment of health care professionals and college and professional athletes with substance use disorders and comorbid psychiatric conditions. His expertise extends from inpatient to partial hospitalization and residential care, to outpatient care. He is an evaluator for impaired health professional monitoring programs and for the Florida Department of Health. His practice includes medication-assisted treatment for opioid addiction, cognitive and other psychosocial therapies and the incorporation of mindfulness and meditation. He is a contributing faculty member to the Addiction and Recovery Certificate.

Dr. Solomon is a designated Professionals Resource Network (PRN) and Intervention Project for Nurses (IPN) evaluator. She also has an outpatient general psychiatric clinic at UF Health Florida Recovery Center.
Before joining UF Health, Dr. Solomon was an attending psychiatrist at Meridian Behavioral Healthcare where she provided inpatient and outpatient care for children, adolescents and adults. She then joined Sarkis Family Psychiatry/Sarkis Clinical Trials where she provided care for patients of all ages and was a sub-investigator on multiple clinical trials.

Dr. Sutton is a licensed clinical psychologist. Her clinical experiences covers a variety of settings, including counseling centers, community-based mental health centers, psychiatric outpatient facilities, hospitals, and substance use disorder treatment centers. She has worked with patients age 19 months to 81 years with a variety of psychiatric diagnoses and life stressors. Dr. Sutton has specialty training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure-Response Therapy (ERT). She provides personality assessment and psychological treatment for dual-diagnoses at the UF Health Florida Recovery Center. She is qualified to teach Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), therapeutic treatment of anxiety disorder, therapeutic treatment of depression, psychotherapy, and supervision.

Dr. Teitelbaum is the Medical Director of the UF Health Florida Recovery Center and a professor of psychiatry and pediatrics. He is also a certified Medical Review Officer (MRO). In recognition of his national leadership in addiction medicine, Dr. Teitelbaum was inducted into the Conway Hunter Society in 2010. He has served as a consultant to the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Executive Office of the President. He also is a consultant on drug and alcohol abuse and dependence for the New York Yankees and other sports teams and industries. He is the author of Addiction: A Family Affair. The University of Florida Guide to Understanding, Prevention and Dealing with Addiction (2011, UF Department of Psychiatry); and co-author, with Michael Nias, of Weed: Family Guide to Marijuana Myths and Facts (2013, UF Department of Psychiatry).
